Event

Where do the funds go?

Event proceeds will support Suicide Awareness Voices of Education (SAVE), a locally-based, national nonprofit dedicated to preventing suicide through education, advocacy, and support services. SAVE has developed a suicide-prevention and mental-health training program called IBEAM (Ideal Body, Environment, and Mind) specifically tailored for the construction industry, where suicide rates are among the highest of any profession. 

Will there be food and drink?

Yes! All players and spectators will be able to enjoy catered food and a variety of N/A and alcoholic beverages.

Pickleball & Tournament

What is the format of the tournament?

This non-sanctioned doubles/mixed gender casual tournament combines the love of Pickleball with supporting metal health awareness and suicide prevention!

Competitive Bracket Details:

    • Games will be un-officiated.
    • Divisions will be based on skill level (levels 3.0 – 5.0) based on criteria outlined here.
    • First team to score 11 wins that round.
    • Players are asked to self-classify based on their own experience (league/previous tournaments/years of playing/USAPA ranking/DUPR, etc.) We rely on the integrity of participants to self-classify.
    • Number of Participants will be limited.
    • Brackets may be combined or split based on number of entries.

Social Bracket Details:

    • Games will be round-robin and open play.
    • Games will be un-officiated.
    • Divisions will be based on skill level (levels 1.0 – 3.0)
    • First team to score 11 wins that round.
    • Players are asked to self-classify based on their own experience (league/previous tournaments/years of playing/USAPA ranking/DUPR, etc.) We rely on the integrity of participants to self-classify based on criteria outlined here.
    • Number of Participants will be limited.

How are skill levels determined?

Beginner Players Level 1.0 – 2.5
A person who has no or limited pickleball experience but may have played tennis/ping pong/badminton and can hit the ball across the net and return the ball. A person who wants to play a fun and friendly game with others.

Intermediate Players Level 3.0 – 3.5
A person who has played pickleball before and can serve and dink the ball. Players of this level understand positioning and the rules of the game.

Advanced Players Level 4.0 – 5.0
A person who is a very skilled pickleball player that has full knowledge of the rules of the game, able to play for hours, and has good court positioning.

Do I need my own equipment?

Game ball will be provided to players. Free paddles are available but feel free to bring your own if you’d like.

What type of shoes should I wear to play?

The site requires indoor court shoes (athletic/tennis/running shoes that do not have black soles) that are free from the debris of Minnesota outdoors (snow/salt/mud).

Since it’s close to Halloween, can we dress in costume or in team-specific gear?

Of course! Feel free to wear whatever play-appropriate attire you consider festive for the occasion!

If my partner is unable to attend at the last minute, can I invite someone else?

Yes! To let us know of the change, please email us your guest’s information to foundation@krausanderson.com.
